Refund Policy

When Writ issues refunds, how to request one, and how prepaid credit is handled.

Effective June 22, 2026 · Version 1.0

This Refund Policy explains how refunds work across the prepaid balance, subscriptions, and the marketplace. It supplements our Terms of Service. Our goal is simple and honest: you should pay for what you use, and we'll make it right when a run fails on our side.

The prepaid balance

Writ bills from a monthly pool of credits included with your plan, topped up from a prepaid balance once the pool is spent. You add funds and usage is metered against the balance.

  • Top-ups never expire while your account is in good standing.
  • Wallet funds are credit toward future usage and are generally non-refundable once added, except where required by law or at our discretion for unused balances.
  • If you close your account, you can contact us about any unused, eligible balance.
Pay for what you use. Cloud runs are metered by actual running time, and AI by tokens used. Runs on your own machine carry no compute charge. Hard spend caps are on by default, so a runaway workflow can't quietly drain your wallet.

Subscriptions

Subscription plans (Starter, Pro, Growth, Scale) are billed in advance and renew automatically until cancelled. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable, except where required by law. If you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days and we'll review it.

Cloud running time and AI charges

Usage charges metered from your wallet (cloud running time and AI tokens) reflect work actually performed and are generally non-refundable. If you believe you were charged due to a Writ platform fault (for example, a billing error or a failure in our managed cloud), contact support with the run ID and we will investigate and, where warranted, credit your wallet.

Marketplace runs

Marketplace listings are free to install. What you pay when you run one is the platform compute the run consumes, billed exactly as any other cloud run. If a run fails on Writ's side, or a listing does not behave as described:

  • You can report a problem with a run from your dashboard, including the run ID.
  • An admin reviews the report and, where a Writ platform fault caused the failed run, may credit the compute charge back to your wallet.
  • An admin can also unlist a listing that no longer behaves as described.

Compute estimates shown before a run are estimates; you own your data, which means you run on your own account with your own credentials and data, so outcomes also depend on your inputs and the target site.

Chargebacks

If you have a billing concern, contact us first. Most issues are resolved quickly. Initiating a chargeback without contacting us may result in account suspension while the dispute is reviewed.

How to request a refund

Open a ticket from your dashboard or email [email protected]. Include the relevant run ID or charge details. That is the fastest path to a resolution. For billing questions about your wallet, see billing and wallet in the docs.
